At the 32nd Arab League Summit, a gathering convened in Jeddah last Friday, President Vladimir Zelensky alleged that certain Arab leaders, who he did not name in person, are turning a blind eye to Russia's "illegal" actions in Ukraine.
Zelensky remarked that some of the Arab leaders in attendance “have a different view on the war on our land...Unfortunately, there are some in the world and here, among you, who turn a blind eye to [prisoner of war] cages and illegal annexations,” he declared. "I am here so that everyone can take an honest look. No matter how hard the Russians try to influence [others], there must still be independence.”
The Muslim-world gathering was attended by representatives from 22 nations, including Syria's President Bashar Al-Assad, who is an ally of Russia's President Vladimir Putin. Mr. Al-Assad was welcomed back into the fold at this year's summit after being suspended in 2011 because of his brutal crackdown on the Syrian Arab Spring that sprung into the still-raging Syrian Civil War.

A February 22, 2022 Reuters report revealed that Al-Assad is fully behind Putin where Ukraine is concerned: "Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad has called his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and supported his position regarding Ukraine, the Syrian presidency said in a statement on Friday amid the ongoing Russian invasion."
Syrian diplomats are also far from shy about publicly praising their nation's "century-long history of relations” with Russia. A recent RT report states that "Russia and Islamic nations share many common views on global affairs and geopolitical developments, Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Bashar Jaafari told RT."
Further, MBS himself spoke to Putin over the phone last month. During the “friendly and constructive” conversation, the leaders agreed to bolster relations between the two countries, the Kremlin said. Last year, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates mediated a prisoner exchange between Kiev and Moscow.
It was not made entirely clear by League Summit officials exactly what they thought about why President Zelensky was permitted to bolster his national cause by addressing the convention's attendees in person. He may have been there so that the Arab world can better be perceived as giving an equal voice to Ukraine.
Arab states have refused to impose sanctions on Moscow over its military operations in Ukraine, unlike many Western nations. As a matter of fact, OPEC+ worked with Russia on oil production cuts last year, a move roundly criticized by Ukraine's allies in Washington.
Zelensky ally, U.S. President Joe Biden has sough to halt Russian oil exports and has even been accused by award-winning acclaimed journalist Seymour Hersch of ordering the clandestine bombings of Russia's Nord Stream 1 and 2 natural gas pipelines that infamously occurred in September of 2022.
Meanwhile, the White House recently set a goal of achieving a Saudi-Israeli relationship normalization agreement by the end of this year - a situation that many Christians are watching closely for ramifications associated with an Israel-Palestine detente that believers believe to be tied to Daniel's 70 Weeks prophesy.
An Israel-Saudi normalization deal could very well lead to a Palestine-Israel peace summit and ultimately a historic breakthrough agreement between the two longtime Middle East enemies in Jerusalem, according to expert sources with knowledge about world history and Bible prophesy.
Speaking at this year's Arab League Summit, MBS revealed that he views his nation as willing peace negotiator between Russia and Ukraine. “We reaffirm the kingdom’s readiness to continue mediating efforts between Russia and Ukraine, and to support all international efforts aimed at resolving the crisis politically in a way that contributes to achieving security,” he said according to Al Jazeera.
