Emergency Alert: Christian Warfare: How Do You Fight Against Spiritual Wickedness in High Places?

Writer: Reginald SpannReginald Spann

The Holy Bible's book of Ephesians chapter 6, starting at verse 12 exhorts Christians to "be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:10-12-King James Version).

We'll discuss "spiritual wickedness in high places" coming up very soon in this post. But first. How does a Christian go about fighting spiritual wickedness in High places?

[1] With Truth and Righteousness

The perfectly righteous Jesus Christ is the way, the Truth, the Life and the Light of the World (John 8:12 & 14:6).

The Spirit of Truth and Righteousness abides both with us and in us (John 14:17). This Spirit counsels us, making us full of wisdom and understanding, confident, mentally strong, energetic, bold! and reminds us of all things pertaining to Almighty God.

Wickedness is the opposite of righteousness. One of the fruits of the Spirit is Truth. So truth and righteousness covers and protects us in the full body armor of God:Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness (Ephesians 6:13-4, KJV).

Now, one good example of spiritual wickedness in high places is the execution of an anti-Christian agenda marked by lies and propaganda from those who want to help Satan steer you away from God in favor of ungodly ways.

We fight physical, mental and spiritual battles against God’s enemies, who are empowered by Satan and positioned in "high places" like local, state, federal and world governments, which shall all be superseded forever by the approaching kingdom of God.

So do not put all your trust in the governments of mankind because the very word "government" means “to steer” or to control the mind - a combination of the words govern, governador, governare (to direct, command, rule) + mente (mental or the mind). And, if some people be of a devilish mind and purpose in elected high places, then they or their puppet masters by definition attempt to control the minds of the governed.

So what are the armaments that the Lord provides us with to defend against spiritual wickedness?

[1] Faith

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6:16).

Faith in Jesus Christ is the “helmet of salvation” in the armor of God – our gift from God (Ephesians 2:8 & 6:16).

Without faith in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ there is little to no chance at receiving eternal life as a gift from God (John 8:24). With faith, asking in prayer, nothing is impossible for us (Mark 9:23). Faith in Almighty God allows us to overcome the wiles of the devil’s ungodly world (1 John 5:4).

On the other hand, doubting the Lord can lead to unstable double-mindedness, debilitating fear, hopelessness, depression, anxiety and opens the door for the devil’s deceitful spirits and teachings (James 1:5-8; 1 Timothy 4:1).

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).

[2] The Sword of the Spirit

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:17).

In the case of spiritual warfare, the Lord blesses us with what the Holy Bible calls “the sword of the Spirit” – aka the “Word of God” – which is the total message of God to mankind. Jesus Christ embodies God’s full message to mankind. The Holy Bible contains the actual recorded words of Jesus and also the dictated words of God that His prophets wrote.

Yes, the Holy Spirit give us energy, courage, error-correction, confidence, boldness, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Subjugation and mortification of invisible spirits of wickedness that lust for our destruction. We are delivered from temptation, blasphemy, evil inner thoughts, lustful desires and mistaken paths in thoughts and behavior. Our faith is kept strong by the utter driving out of unbelief in God that taints atheists, agnostics and Satanists – the unholy Anti-Christian trinity, I call them.

The sword of the Spirit is our attack sword to defend against, discover, perceive and resist the devil’s lies, temptations, propaganda and psychological mind-control. A single strike – one verse from the Holy Bible - breaks the devil’s will and sends Satanists fleeing with their tails tucked when rebuked either in Jesus’s name or by the Word of God. (Matthew 4). Resist the devil's assault on us in the things that belong to our souls, and use the sword of God to strike against evil's labour to deface the heavenly image in our hearts.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).

[4] The Gospel of Peace

...And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:15).

Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. One of His favorite greetings was "Peace be with you" (pronounced shalom aleichem in Hebrew and šlāmā ʿalḵōnin in Aramaic).

The gospel of peace is the message from Jesus that comes with the blessed assurance from God that we are His children and firmly under his guidance, love and protection (John 10:29; 1 John 5:13).

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27).

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well. (John 14:1).

I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!" (John 16:33).

Because of the Gospel of peace, we are able to stand without fear and to be surefooted in the armor of God. Peace with God is good news. When we are at peace with God, not warring against His will, then we rest assured of our election, salvation and eternal life. Having peace with God allows us to stand firm in faith. We can stand against the onslaught of worldly lusts, temptations, deceptions and powers of darkness.

We stand in peace – believing and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That he was crucified as a sacrifice for the sins of the world, was dead and buried, and arose from the grave to eternal life. For those who put on the whole armor of God, fight the good fight and remain firm in the faith, enduring until His return, He promises eternal life with Him in the kingdom of Heaven.

[5] Prayer

Prayer must fasten all the other parts of our Christian armor. The warriors of God have a great resource in prayer. The Holy Bible instructs us to pray always in the Spirit (Ephesians 6:18). Jesus gave us the Lord’s prayer and also advises us that what we pray for we will receive – if we truly believe and do good (Luke 11:2 – 4; Mark 9:23; Psalms 37:4).

King Solomon’s prayer is as an example of how to pray, not for selfish things, but for things to help God’s people (1 Kings 3:5 - 15).

Watch and pray! With all perseverance and prayer for the Lord's return coming in the clouds with great glory to establish His everlasting kingdom. Watch world events for the fulfillment of more and more end times prophesies. Pray, actively wait on the Lord like a servant and not like one waiting on a bus stop, while you endure firm in the faith to kingdom come.

Put on the whole armor of God. Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. We must resolve by God's grace to not to yield to Satan - the most persistent adversary. If we distrust either our cause, our armor or our God, then we give the devil an unnecessary advantage. Stand firm in the faith, extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one and overcome by the power of God's will.

Be as bold as a lion! Stand Your Ground against the devil’s notoriously outrageous and ungodly wiles, subtleness, propaganda, lies and schemes. Expose the world rulers, their minions, their guide, method of operation, goals, and fate. Speak Truth to power – for the devil is a fleeing liar and what is in the darkness will be revealed in the light.

Observe, study and know your adversaries and their methods of spiritually wicked warfare that they psychological wage against Christians to wear you down. Onward Christian soldiers!
