We were made in the image of God but then Adam and Eve sinned and corrupted mankind's image. But Jesus re-imaged us like dead, corrupted computers are wiped clean and given new life, new images to operate with.
Normal human blood can only temporarily maintain life. The blood of Jesus gives eternal life to whosoever believes in Him.
Animal blood was sacrificed to God as an annual atonement offering executed by Jewish priests in the Old Testament. But in the New Testament or New Covenant, the blood of Jesus Christ, King of the Jews, was shed as a one-time sacrifice offering to God the Father as an appeasement exchange for the forgiveness of mankind's sins.
"For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" (Hebrews 9:13-14).
It is like your your computer was wiped clean and you get all new files, documents and applications installed on it. Your sin slate is wiped clean and Almighty God forgives your sins, justifies you by faith in Him and grants eternal life to whosoever believes in Him.
Believe that He was born the Son of God through the Virgin Mary. He ministered on earth, was scourged because of His preaching and teaching, shed much blood, was crucified, dead, buried and arose on the third day.
In his temporary sacrificial death he took our place, bearing our curse and rendering satisfaction to God (Gal 3:13).
"God presented Him as the atoning sacrifice through faith in His blood, in order to demonstrate His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, because in His forbearance He had passed over the sins committed beforehand" (Romans 3:25).
The bloodshed of Christ on the cross also allows us to boldly enter into the presence of God at any time, whereas the High Priest who carried the blood of sacrificial animals to offer to God could only enter on the Day of Atonement.
Blood is the way we approach God. The only approach to God is by blood. Remember how Abel brought a blood sacrifice to God, while Cain brought a vegetable sacrifice and God rejected Cain's offering? (Genesis 4).
The blood offering by Jesus is the blood of eternal life-giving redemption and salvation.
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission or forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 9:22; Revelation 5:9).
If you would like to commit your life to Christ and allow him to wipe your sin slate clean sort of like a computer technician would re-image your computer, then ask the Lord to come in to your life right now.
Do not hesitate, tomorrow, next week, next year is not promised.
Believe in the life-giving propitiation blood of Jesus Christ and in the Gospel of the Lord.
Long live the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
