Faith Means Having Confidence In The Lord Jesus Christ

Faith equals having confidence in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I'll focus on three of Jesus's miracles to illustrate the point.

  1. Because of her confidence in Him, Jesus healed the woman afflicted with an issue of blood. (Luke 8:43-48)

  2. He healed blind men because of their faith. (Matthew 9:27; Matthew 20:29-34)

  3. Jesus said this to the confident centurion who asked Him to heal his servant:

"When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel ... And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour." (Matthew 8:8 - 13; KJV)

These miracles all have something in common: the belief that Jesus could and would grant their requests.

They highlight the fact that if we have confidence in the Lord like the woman with an issue of blood, then our requests will be granted.

She had been afflicted for twelve long years, wasting her money on quacks who could not heal her.

Under Jewish law, Leviticus 15:31, the woman was considered unclean. She couldn't go in the temple because she was defiled.

In the Old Testament, God's presence was in the tabernacle and the temple through the ark of the covenant. Only the clean high priest could enter into His presence once per year on the Day of Atonement. (Leviticus 16)

In the New Testament the Lord was present among the people in the person of Jesus. The woman was confident that if she touched his garment she would be healed. Instead of defiling Him, He cleansed her with the blood pumping through his veins.

He's known for cleansing. He washed our sins away through His sacrifice on the cross of crucifixion. He can heal your afflictions.

Believe He can do it, and it will be done according to His will.

Many of us can testify that we or someone we know had an issue that doctors were dumbfounded about. But the cure came from Christ.

I had a pinched nerve that the doctors could do nothing about. It affected my ability to type because there was a stinging pain in two of my fingers. The doctors still charged me. But the healing came by way of Christ Jesus.

I want a refund but I seriously doubt I'll get my change back.

God is unchanging. He still performs miracles in public and in private. Hold onto His hand. God's unchanging hand.

If you need a miraculous change, then do not hesitate to call on Jesus. Have confidence in the power of His name. He is able to heal the truly believing blind, sick and the lame.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. It is also the fundamental fact and act of having confidence in the Lord.
