"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15)
Let learning the Word of the Lord help you to lively up yourself.
Start by reading the Holy Bible consistently and shunning pagan so-called self-help books that only assist in spiritually guiding you away from the true wellspring of wisdom which is God Almighty.
Greetings beloved in the name of His Majesty Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mercy be to you and peace from God our Father and from The Christian Commander. May this post serve as a blessing to you and yours.
One day at a synagogue a sect of the Jewish religious leaders in Jerusalem known as the Pharisees questioned the family of a man who was born blind, attempting to find out how Jesus, who they falsely accused of being a sinner, had healed him.
After getting stonewalled they asked the man himself.
He answered and said, Whether he is a sinner or not I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. (John 9:25)
How is that for a story of sadness turned to joy?
Humans who lack joy have the tendency to talk bad about God. Like, "Why would God allow a man to be born blind?"
If the man had not been born blind, then we would not have seen the Lord's power to heal.
(2) "God is love" (1 John 4:8)
This is one of the most quoted three words in the whole Word of God because the Almighty loves His creations like a dad loves his children and it is easy to tell.
The whole verse is:
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
It is that simple. If you do not have love in your heart, express love, show love in some form or fashion then you know not God.
(3) On the Elect (Matthew 22:14)
The third verse in this compilation is part of the Parable of the Banquet and explains how it shall be in the approaching kingdom of God:
For many are called, but few are chosen.
A lot of people get invites to the big ball at the king's palace but only a few can sit at the table for the feast.
You see, many people are invited to the Kingdom of God but only the faithful, believing elect of God will make it in - and we all will sit at the table with the Lord for the everlasting feast.
(4) On Eternal Life (John 12:25)
Number 4 on our list deals with the fact that you have to be in the world but not of the world to appease God, because the government of man is ruled by the powers of darkness while Almighty God is the Light of the World who will stamp out the dark knight in the end.
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
Friendship with the world is enmity with God (James 4:4).
He gave his only begotten son, so that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
(5) The Father (Matthew 23:9)
The Lord's prayer which is from the Holy Bible starts out with "Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name."
The fifth verse on our list follows the same theme:
"And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven."
If you honestly honor the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in your life, then it will be very difficult for you to go wrong in God's eyes.
(6) Love the Lord Thy God (Matthew 22:37-40)
Jesus was being questioned by the Sadducees and the Pharisees who were trying to entangle Him in His talk. One of them was a lawyer.
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Jesus also confirmed that this is a good way to inherit eternal life.
(7) On the Soul (Mark 8:36)
The seventh verse strikes at the soul of mankind and serves as a marvelous guide for living the way God wants us to:
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
This verse deals with the reality that people can and do sell their soul to the Devil, who is not afraid to tempt Almighty God.
He tempted Jesus in the wilderness so you know Satan is not afraid to tempt you to bow down and worship him instead of God in exchange for great riches and "all the kingdoms of the world" (Matthew 4).
This verse was made even more popular by a Rastafarian and reggae music legend,
"Don't gain the world and lose your soul. Wisdom is better than silver and gold." - Bob Marley, Zion Train
(8) Repent (Matthew 3:2)
"Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
This means that people should stop committing the sin of not worshiping the true and living God. Like the first of the 10 Commandments says:
"Thou shall have no other god before me."
Idolatry or the worship of pagan gods and symbols including the love of money was rampant in Jerusalem during Jesus's era.
The Roman Empire occupied Israel and the Romans notoriously worshiped their own pantheon of lower-case gods to replace Almighty God.
Although, they allowed the local population to worship God, most of the Jewish leaders professed Him but did not call Him up or know the Messiah Jesus Christ.
To make it in to the kingdom of Heaven one must repent.
Both the forerunner John the Baptist who paved the way for the Lamb of God Jesus Christ preached the message of repentance:
(9) The Good Reaper (Galatians 6:7-9)
You have likely heard of the grim reaper, but the next passage is about the "good reaper."
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.
People break this down in conversation and in song lyrics as "You reap what you sow."
To reap is to gather, to sow is to plant the seeds.
So your future results, consequences and repercussions are determined by your present actions, decisions and lifestyle.
The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward. (Proverbs 11:8)
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. (Galatians 6:8)
For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up. (Hosea 8:7)
(10) On All Things (Philippians 4:13)
Last but not least is one of the most inspiring verses in the Bible:
I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.
This is a classic verse from the Holy Bible because it challenges our belief system, our faith in the Lord God. And it tells it like it is:
Do you really believe in God?
If so, then let me see you take on a task that everyone thought would be impossible for you to succeed at, including yourself. Not only take on the task but excel in it no matter how long it takes if given the opportunity.
Then you can say, "I did that because I believed in the power of the Lord to enable me to do whatever He sets my mind on according to His will."
Will you give up in the face of a daunting task or will you see it through to the best of your ability?
Will you quit? Or will you persevere in the name of the Lord?
May God give us the will to persevere.
