QUICK: What Does It Really Mean To Wait On The Lord?

To wait on the Lord means to serve him: like a restaurant waiter serves customers.

To wait on the Lord does not mean to wait like you wait for a bus. If that is your method of waiting on the Lord, then you are qualified as an unprofitable servant.

the parable of the talents reveals that the Lord's return will test His servants on whether or not we were profitable to His kingdom (Matt. 25:14).

How can you Wait on the Lord?

Don't be slothful or lazy, for one. Slothfulness is frowned upon in the Book of Proverbs and in the Parable of the Talents.

Business class servants hustle and learn to understand their client's needs, wants and requirements. So should it be with God's servants.

As the salt of the earth and light of the world, Christians should be service leaders by way of example: letting our lights shine (Matt. 5:13-16).

Leadership is serving those under your charge. He who is greatest among you shall be your servant (Matt. 23:11).

What do professional waiters usually say in restaurants?

"Is there anything else I can do for you?"

"May I help you?"

"May I take your order please?"

"Is there anything else you require?"

"Ring the bell for service."

Wait on the Lord by always being ready for when He rings your bell for service.
