Christians should be waiting to live instead of waiting to die because when we are waiting to live then we are actively serving the Lord.
We should be waiting on the Lord as we push through toward being crowned with eternal life in the Kingdom of God.
By waiting to live, I mean serving the Lord like a waiter in a restaurant serves people. I don't mean waiting like one waits for someone to to call.
We do not stop seeing the Lord in a positive perception, as understanding, generous, and kind, while the unfaithful sees God as harsh, demanding and critical.
The motivation for Christian service is faith in and love for God, not to work our way into Heaven. As we use our gifts that He bestowed upon us, we recall that there is no merit system for entering into the eternal life offered by Jesus Christ to whosoever believes in Him.
So please remember that we serve not to earn salvation because Christ already has purchased salvation for us, so that His believers will either never die or shall be resurrected to eternal life upon His return to establish the Kingdom of God.
Because eternal life in the kingdom of God is already promised to whosoever believes in the risen Christ Jesus, our good works cannot get us in. We wait on the LORD for the love of Him.
So what is the difference between waiting to live and waiting to die?
When you are waiting to live you are actively serving the Lord while living in the faith and love of God.
When you are waiting to die you sit idly by unfaithfully, waiting on the Lord to hurry His return before you die - like one waits at a city bus stop. Or living out your life having some fun and enjoyment but really waiting to die so you can go to Heaven.
Also, I believe that some people actually live their lives so recklessly that they end up living to die. I don’t want Christians to be a part of that.
Christians should focus on waiting to live for the faith in and the love of God.
Our wait on the Lord is not unlike like a waiter at your favorite eatery who faithfully serves you. Or waiting for the starter's gun to run a marathon. Our wait is not like one who waits in vain for a phone call on a lonesome Friday night from an adulterous, unfaithful supposed helpmate.
Even if you think on some days that you’ve had enough of this world and can't wait to get to Heaven, be sober, be vigilant, think positive thoughts, think of some way to contribute to Christianity.
Spread the Gospel, start your own blog, vlog, podcast, spread literature, learn how to write, how to speak in public.
Ask the Lord for the desires of your heart and He will give them to you (Psalms 37).
The Holy Bible says that not all Christians will die before Jesus returns. That is, many Christians will be alive when Christ returns to win the Battle of Armageddon and pronounce Final Judgment.
Live in faith, in love and wait on the LORD.
