In a Christian testament of faith, Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin returned to play pro football on Saturday for the first time since he collapsed on the field and suffered cardiac arrest on Jan. 2 during a nationally televised game.

The NFL suspended that highly anticipated and promoted Monday Night Football contest between the Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals, as condolences for Hamlin cascaded in from across the Christian and sports worlds.

The Bills eventually said in a statement that his heartbeat was restored while on the field after he made a tackle, stood up, but then fainted and fell unconscious.

He was sedated, given CPR, resuscitation, defibrillation, rushed to the hospital and remained in critical condition.

His condition and fast-track to full recovery brought millions of football fans and Christians together in either prayer, donating to his charity's toy drive or otherwise following his progress.

The 25-year-old has consistently expressed his faith in Jesus Christ throughout his struggle to overcome adversity and return to the NFL. So Saturday was undoubtedly a high mark of his career.

He was on the field for 24 snaps and made 3 tackles during Buffalo's preseason Week 1 hometown victory over the Indianapolis Colts at Highmark Stadium. It was remarkable for those who witnessed his return.

"What we just witnessed to me is remarkable," Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said. "It really is. It's a true sign of a young man's courage and, obviously, everyone that helped him get to this point."

"I know there's a football game going on out there today, but I mean, truly remarkable display of courage and strength and faith."

"Had a chance to communicate with Damar a little bit last night, and he assured me he was ready to go and was going to trust in his preparation and God, and I think that shows a lot about who he is."

God is good to the faithful, beloved. He will help you overcome any struggles. Believe in Jesus as the only begotten Son of God.
