The battle for survival, for a future:

Writer: Reginald SpannReginald Spann

What is your battle for survival, beloved?

What issues are you up against?

Are you fighting to overcome something while struggling on a daily basis, almost to the point of crisis, or even already at that crossroads in life?

Is it substance abuse, fear, anxiety, isomnia, loneliness, murmurings, backbitings against you, family problems, car problems, finances or issues on the Job?

Whatever it is, I want you to know that Jehova-nissi fights our battles. If you call on the name of Jesus, ask Him for help. Just holler, "help!"

The Lord will show up in your life, almost like He did for Joshua, Moses, Aaron and the rest of the children of Israel when they went to a one-day war against Amalek and the Amalekites in the wilderness city of Rephidim. (Exodus 17)

The Lord may not give you the power to wield a powerful sword like Joshua, or to part the Red Sea or to smite a boulder and draw water from it, but He will be with you as He was with Moses, Joshua and the Israelites who believed in His awesome power.

The Angel of the Lord, who introduced Himself to Joshua as the Captain of the Lord's Hosts, led the Israelites to victory in the battle of Jericho. He will do the same for you, in your life's battles beloved.

Remember, He is known as the Good Shepherd. A good shepherd fights off the ravening wolves and lions who attack the sheep.

What did He tell Joshua, who was one of the mightiest warriors in all of the Holy Scriptures?

He told him over and over to be strong and of good courage. The Lord was referring to inner strength and not outer strength.

Joshua had a lot to overcome. The Israelites gave Moses Hell about bringing them out into the wilderness only to die, when they could have stayed in Egypt and lived, at least, though be it under hard slavery.

At least they could have lived, they complained to Moses almost daily for 40 years wandering in the wilderness.

Joshua was not a miracle worker like Moses. He did not talk to Almighty God, up close and personal, like Moses did. He was a warrior who had to have intestinal fortitude in order to take over for Moses who had died as the Israelites neared the Promised Land.

Joshua had to find a way to survive?

How did he do it?

It's called survival.

Only the strong will survive with the help of the Holy Spirit.

The weak will be made strong to succeed under pressure, stress or strain, having great resistance, not lacking firmness of character or strength of will.

The Holy Scriptures say the Lord renews His people's strength.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength.

That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Joshua believed that the Angel of Lord could lead Joshua and he Israelites to victory at the battle of Jericho.

If you believe, then you, too will not only survive but thrive in overcoming you life's battles.r
