Fellow Christians are following the situation surrounding Christian NFL player Damar Hamlin. We are watching to see if he will be able to return to his profession in 2023.
NFL training camps begin in mid-August, and Hamlin's status with the team and the league is unknown as of this writing.
Hamlin is an American football player for the Buffalo Bills who is known for almost dying during an ESPN nationally televised game. He suffered cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field during a contest between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals on January 2, 2023. He was 24 years old at the time.
Hamlin fell motionless on the field after making a typical tackle.
Distraught and nervous players from both teams could be seen taking knees, praying, holding their own heads, and milling around his seemingly lifeless body.
He was administered emergency CPR on the field for over 9 minutes, plus Automated External Defibrillation and oxygen before being rushed in an ambulance to a Cincinnati Hospital.
He was in critical condition, placed in ICU and on a ventilator for several days.
The power of Almighty God shined to the forefront of the seemingly Satan-controlled sports world, as the community of faith came together to pray for his recovery.
NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky took the controversial step to pray for Hamlin while live on the air after coverage of the postponed game shifted to "NFL Live" on ESPN.
"I heard the Buffalo Bills organization say that we believe in prayer, and maybe this is not the right thing to do, but it’s just on my heart and I want to pray for Damar Hamlin right now. I’m going to do it out loud, I’m going to close my eyes and bow my head, and I’m just going to pray for him," Orlovsky said, likely realizing that he could suffer consequences and repercussions.
He continued, "God, we come to you in these moments that we don’t understand, that are hard because we believe that you’re God and coming to you and praying to you has impact. We’re sad. We’re angry. We want answers, but some things are unanswerable. We just want to pray, truly come to you and pray for strength for Damar, for healing for Damar, for comfort for Damar. Be with his family to give him the peace."
Thus, the power of Almighty God was again on display as Orlovsky prayed to the LORD on Satan's time - the prince of the power of the air's time.
The first time Hamlin was able to speak after regaining consciousness in the hospital, he asked, "Did we win?"
He was told, "You won the game of life."
