[1] I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. (John 10:11)
Sheep are known to be defenseless followers who need knowledgeable guidance, protection and pasture. We are the sheep of the Lord's pasture (Psalms 100:3)
Jesus is also known as the Lamb of God (John 1:29, Rev. 5).
[2] Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. (Revelation 5:5)
John seemed to be in despair because no on could be found to loos the book with the seven seals. But the elders spoke to him and let him know that the Lamb who was slain is Him.
Sheep are also known not to utter a sound when their slaughter is near.
[3] For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
Word, sound and power.
The word of God cuts to the chase because he does not sugar coat anything.
His word hits home and makes us either want to do better or to stay away from Him. The honest-to-God truth causes us to self-reflect, and the introspection can catalyze a change for the better.
It lets us know about ourselves as God knows everything and speaks to you so that you may know yourself.
[4] Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Matthew 7:15)
This classic verse details the accuracy of Jesus's predictions about what would happen after He ascended to Heaven. Many false prophets have arisen throughout history and perhaps these days more than at any other time.
Televangelism is big business. Prosperity Gospel is big business for the powers of darkness. Self-help, motivational-speaking type preaching is big business.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (Galatians 5:22-23).
Forbearance is another word used in some translations instead of long-suffering.
[5] And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. (Genesis 2:3)
God ordained a day of rest during the week so we should observe it.
Almighty God is known as the Lord of the Sabbath. He made that clear to the Jewish religious leaders who pestered Him about working on the Sabbath.
[6] Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (Matthew 24:35)
The word of God is forever. The Lord has always been. He was not created nor can he cease to exist. Father God we thank you for creating us and allowing to live in your world. We praise you, pray to you, honor, respect and love you dear Lord.
[7] Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.(Jude 24)
The book of Jude is only one chapter long. This verse serves as a benediction aka an invocation of divine blessing, usually at the end of a church service.
[8] Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that Justifies. (Romans 8:33)
Satan is the accuser of the brethren and his interns love to follow suit. They will accuse Christians of anything they can think of. But to no avail because the Lord is our lawyer in the court of the powers of darkness and they shall not prevail because the Lord justifies his believers in righteousness by our faith in Him.
[9] And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. (Daniel 2:44)
Daniel the prophet told Babylon's King Nebuchadnezzar all about the world kingdoms that would arise in history before Jesus Christ set up the Kingdom of God in the latter days.
[10] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:19
This verse is known as the Great Commission from Jesus Christ. Serving as instruction for what to do after He ascended to Heaven in order to carry the church forward. The disciples did not live unto the end of the world. So obviously the Great Commission applies to Christians in every era leading up to the return of Jesus Christ.
